On October 28th,
Trinity's Coates Library introduces...
Our New Books and Media Catalog
The Process
During the 2007-2008 academic year, Trinity University
librarians and staff members were involved in the review of
numerous products to aid in upgrading and enhancing the services
available at the Coates Library. After this review
process, Innovative Interfaces was selected to provide products
and support for our online library catalog.
Over the last seven months, a team of library
faculty and staff members have been involved in preparing and
migrating the information in the current catalog (Quest) into
the new software and server systems. On October 28th, this
new resource will be available at the library homepage.
Students, faculty,
and staff have two options for searching the library's
collection.
Search Options: Books, Media, and More Keyword Search
When you use the Books and Media Search box on
the library homepage, your results will appear in an interactive
interface that offers numerous options for organizing and
reorganizing your results.
Search Options: Books, Media, and More Advanced Search
If you prefer to go straight to the advanced
search
interface, you may click on the "Library Catalog" link at the
library homepage. Either the keyword or advanced strategy
searches the same set of titles, but each offers different
options for narrowing or expanding searches.
The results screen for the Advanced Search
also differs from the Books and Media Search.
Search Options: Journals
The process of searching for journal titles
will not change. Searchers will continue to use the
"Journals" tab on the library home page to access
information about specific journals.
Questions?
If you have questions about the new catalog,
either before or after it becomes available, please contact your
liaison librarian. They will be glad to help answer your
questions, and offer assistance in using the new catalog.
