Databases

ERIC
Citations, abstracts and some full text articles in education periodicals and other publications. Coverage includes most aspects of education.  Many good studies, research projects and unpublished material available in this database.  Most of the ERIC documents are on Microfiche.  Ask at the Information Commons Help Desk for assistance. 

Education Abstracts
Index and abstracts to leading publications in education. Coverage includes classroom computers, comparative education, educational technology, language and linguistics, literacy, multicultural/ethnic education, PE and athletics, psychology, religious education, special education, teacher evaluation, etc.  Indexing is more thorough in this database than in ERIC.

Academic Search Complete
Designed specifically for academic institutions, this is the world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,300 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,300 journals and a total of 10,900 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.

PsycINFO
Psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines: anthropology, business, education, law, linguistics, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, physiology, psychiatry, and sociology.

CQ Researcher
Full text coverage, including search capability, of CQ Researcher, which provides in-depth analysis of contemporary issues.

The "About.com" for education resources, this gateway provides articles and information on a wide range of education related topics.  This regularly updated site features pages in a newsletter format, with columns on administrative issues, technology in education, general education resources, lesson planning and current news.

Educator's Reference Desk: Resource Guides
A product of the Information Institute at Syracuse University, the site includes lesson plans, a question/answer archive, and links to over 3000 sites categorized by topic.

Kathy Schrock’s Guide for Educators
Sponsored by DiscoverySchool.com, Shrock's links are categorized by topic within four larger categories:  subject access (subject specific links and information), teacher helpers (links to article, workshop information, and professional development resources), search tools (links to search engines selected by Schrock), and Schrockguide Stuff (information related to the author and her products).

Teaching Children with Sensory Impairments: Strategies for Mainstream Teachers
This project is the result of an international, collaborative effort among educators in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, who work with students with vision or hearing impairments. The mission of the editors "is to provide a resource for professionals, parents, and university students involved in fully including students with sensory impairments in our educational systems."  Faculty emeritus Karen Waldron was one of the editors of this project and many of the resources were created by Trinity students.
