These links provide information, texts, and other resources related to the study of the German language, literatures, and culture. Oxford Language Dictionaries Online: Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Italian
The Oxford Language Dictionaries Online site offers essential language resources online: fully searchable, completely comprehensive bilingual dictionaries, and unique study materials that provide extra help with learning and using an expanding range of languages.

Canoo-net
Extensive searchable database of German language and morphology. Search for a German word or prefix and get information about its part-of-speech, inflection (conjugation for verbs), spelling variations, translation into English (via another site), and more. Site is in German and English, some parts are only in German.

DictSearch
This "global dictionary" is designed to search over 250 online dictionaries and includes words and definitions in a variety of languages.
 

German Language Guide
Site covers the basics in German vocabulary and grammar. Includes online verb conjugators, dictionaries, and more.

German Tutorials
Online tutorials in written and downloadable audio formats.

Albert K. Wimmer: Anthology of Medieval German Literature
This online version of the print anthology, "synoptically arranged with contemporary translations," features texts and illustrations dating from 750-1500 AD.

Literaturwelt
Site includes searchable descriptive entries for contemporary literature published on the web and for literary journals available online.

19th-Century German Stories
These German stories and their English translations are made available by Virginia Commonwealth University. 

Projekt Gutenberg
Over 1000 German and non-German writers from ancient to modern times are represented in this database of online texts.

Retrospektive Digitalisierung wissenschaftlicher Rezensionsorgane und Literaturzeitschriften des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts aus dem deutschen Sprachraum
Collection of 18th and 19th century journals with many literary contributions. Use the search form to find authors and works.

Sophie - A Digital Library of Works by German-Speaking Women
This site offers writings in German by women in a number of genres, including literary and travel writing, music, journalism, and drama.  Also includes links to other sites featuring online texts relate to German women writers.

UB Bielefeld: Digitalisierte Drucke
Digital collection of rare and precious texts held by the university library at Bielefeld.

This site related to German film production between 1929 and 1972 offers extensive notes (including images) on specific films, actors, and directors.  

GSLG: German Studies Library Group

German Cinema on DVD and Video
List of links and resources on German cinema from UC Berkeley.

German Language News and Newspapers

German Studies Web
This project of the Western European Studies Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries "is designed to provide access to scholarly resources in German Studies, including all German-speaking countries. The resources organized here have undergone a selection and evaluation process. If needed, annotations have been provided augmenting the research value of these resources to scholars."

Goethe-Institut
Germany's official cultural organization sponsors this site, offering links to Institutes worldwide, information on language courses, and descriptions of current projects.

Guttenberg Digital
This site includes a full-text facsimile version of a Guttenberg Bible, along with other information related to Guttenberg and the history of printing.

H-German
This internet discussion and research forum focuses on German history, and includes book and article reviews, calls for conferences and paper publications, links, and other related materials.

History of Germany: Primary Documents
Includes many notable and some idiosyncratic selections of primary documents from the history of German.  Note that some documents are presented in a full-text format while others are presented in facsimile versions.

LeMO: Lebendiges virtuelles Museum Online
This German website touches on different topics related to 20th century German history and includes images of museum objects, biographies of politicians, artists, and scientists, a timeline, and more.
