La Real Academia Española (The Royal Spanish Academy) -  The international authority for standard Spanish usage and grammar.  Features an extensive online dictionary covering the Peninsular and Latin American lexicons (Spanish only), as well as many other linguistic resources and links.

English-Spanish / Spanish-English Online Dictionary - Searchable online dual-language dictionary, featuring audio pronunciation clips and a Word-a-Day vocabulary builder.

Spanish Language: Learn Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and culture - Hosted by About.com, this site offers a wealth of material for students of the Spanish language, including vocabulary and grammar lessons, exercises and articles, a Word-of-the-Day vocabulary builder, and links to further resources.

Learn Spanish - Features free online tutorials and a Word-a-Day vocabulary builder.

The Cervantes Project - Site dedicated to the study of the life and works of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, author of Don Quijote.  Includes numerous searchable online texts.

Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes - An electronic repository of Hispanic literature, featuring online texts as well as studies and criticism on various Spanish-speaking authors and works, from the Middle Ages to the present.

Literatura Latinoamericana - An introduction to the lives and works of the major figures in Latin American literature of the twentieth century.  Includes brief author biographies, as well as online editions of landmark works of Latin American literature.  See also Sololiteratura.com.

Biblioteca Virtual Universal - A collection of digitized works of Hispanic literature, sponsored by the Argentine Ministry of Education in conjunction with municipal agencies of Buenos Aires and various academic institutions.

Archivo Virtual de la Edad de Plata - Online archive of materials relating to the literature and philosophy of Spain during the period between 1868 and 1936.  Features discussion forums, announcements, links, and a searchable catalog of texts.

Latin American Network Information Center - Search engine maintained by the University of Texas, covering a wide variety of topics related to Latin American culture.
