And Our Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Says So.
You may have noticed a large new poster in the library. But why put up a statement about our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion?
Because libraries and the people who run them are passionate proponents of equity and respect. You may have never thought about it explicitly, but you’ve probably felt the truth of it in your school and public libraries and in your college one, too.
Libraries exist to help everyone—to help you get your hands on and your minds wrapped around whatever information you need for whatever project you want to undertake. That’s true for everyone who walks through the doors or gets in touch via chat or phone or text or email. We pledge to help everyone in the Trinity community equitably and with respect. However you identify, we accept you, and if you have circumstances that require a particular kind of help, we’re committed to doing whatever we can to provide it.
So that’s why we put up a statement on diversity, equity, and inclusion—to make it very, very clear that you belong here.
Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement is also available online.
