The following pieces were selected for acquisition:

Mary’s creative practice centers on printmaking, more specifically, dry point and relief (lino & wood) printing. During her undergrad years, her work has focused on exploring printmaking and repurposing obsolete media (CDs, VHS tapes, floppy disks, and vinyls) by transforming them into prints. Working primarily in relief printmaking, her work explores themes of nature, identity, and memory. In the future, she hopes to further work on and develop both her drypoint technique, exploring the possibilities of using recycled materials, and relief printing skills.

Annika’s work reinvents aspects of Swedish traditional textile design in relation to her lived experience and unique life-practices. Through representation of her heritage, she hopes to reconnect with a culture that was lost during their immigration to the US in the early 20th century. She often recalls events in a fragmented manner, so she pulls shapes, items, and feelings out of those fragments and flatten them into the ornate designs present in her art. She notes that this produces a final product that is highly readable to her, but often opaque to the viewer.

Working primarily in acrylic, charcoal, and photography, his work explores themes of nature and advocating for the betterment of mental health. Through this body of work, Fredric considers high detail to be a big pushing point for his artworks as a reflection of close care towards his artworks. His practice has been shared in various university-wide outlets, as well as participated in the Rising Eyes of Texas group exhibition in Rockport, TX, and the San Antonio Art League Show. He aims to further extend his love for the world wherever there are areas to love; physical and metaphysical.
